After studying at the Motley Theatre Design Course at the English National Opera, Conway began his career by assisting Tanya Moiseiwitsch at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. He has designed extensively for Irish Theatre and Film, including the Oscar nominated film THE FIELD, and the Bafta Award winning documentary, BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE. Conway's design for SHIBARI at the Abbey Theatre (Peacock) represented Ireland at the World Stage Design Exhibition in Cardiff in 2013. His design for Particle of Dread (Oedipus Variations) by Sam Shepherd was selected to represent the UK at the Prague Quadrennial in 2015.

Conway designed THIS IS AN IRISH DANCE, a collaboration with Jean Butler and Neil Martin in New York, the UK, Serbia and Dublin. He designed the premiere of Sam Shepard's new play A PARTICLE OF DREAD (Oedipus Variations) for Field Day Theatre Company as part of Derry's European City of Culture 2013, and the US off-Broadway premiere for the Signature Theatre co-production in New York. The design was exhibited at the VICTORIA & ALBERT MUSEUM in London until January 2016 and remains in the museum's collection. Conway directed for theatre and film, including the Yeats' version of OEDIPUS for Druid Theatre Co., and the short film THE CHALK UP (Irish Film Board) Conway lectured extensively in scenography at NCAD, Trinity College, the National University of Ireland, DIT, The Lir in Dublin and the Motley Theatre Design Course, Covent Garden. |
